Nova Scotia: Karyn MacPherson

The YGC should vote for me because I am an enthusiastic queer woman who has a passion for the environment and some experience in leadership! I would love to be a part of the team that encourages more young people in Nova Scotia and across Canada to get involved in the Green Party!

I have been a digital ambassador for the YGs since December 2017 and have enjoyed meeting new YGs from around Canada and promoting our message through digital content.

During the 2015 election I was able to volunteer with the Green Party in Fredericton, New Brunswick(where I lived at the time) through door to door canvassing, volunteering at a local festival and helping the YGs by promoting a film screening. Also I was a part of a group of young women worried about climate change and the increased discussion of the energy east pipeline. Standing together we decided to create a video titled: Youth for Climate Action and it was presented to the New Brunswick Climate Change Select Committee.

During my academic studies at St.Thomas University I was able to take on several leadership roles such as Residence Advisor, Executive Committee member for Welcome Week, member of Students for Sustainability, Grad Class Committee member and Treasurer/Secretary for the Anthropology Society. These experiences contributed to my ability to be a better leader.

I would be very excited to be involved in this opportunity with the Young Greens as we transition into a greener Canada.
